Outlook for building and other trades stays gloomy

A quarter of companies within the Chambre des Métiers (CDM) are considering staff cuts, Luxembourg’s trades association said on Tuesday.

Manual trades which include sectors like cleaning, mechanics, electricians and construction employed over 107,000 people across nearly 9,000 different companies in Luxembourg last year, making it the country’s largest single sector, the CDM said. The industry umbrella organisation released survey results from its members at a Tuesday press conference attended by Minister of the Economy Lex Delles.
