Waiting times to receive a refund for a medical bill from the national health fund Caisse Nationale de Santé (CNS) are currently at a historic low, Health Minister Martine Deprez said on Tuesday, crediting the drop on the introduction of the direct payment system.
One fifth of all requests are refunded within one week, while more complicated files currently take five to six weeks – down from seven to ten in February – Deprez told public broadcaster 100.7.
Another 20% of all refund requests, often complex cases involving medical bills for treatments abroad, currently take up to 12 weeks to process, 100.7 reported.
