Cost-of-living payment to increase by 10% from next year

Luxembourg’s cost-of-living allowance to support lower-income households is to be increased by 10% from next year, Family Minister Max Hahn said on Friday, while energy aid payments will be trebled.

“We have looked closely at where we can specifically help the weakest in our society,” Hahn said at a press conference to unveil the measures.

“Luxembourg has a fairly effective welfare system, but it is important to continue to adapt it to the needs of the target populations in times of economic difficulties and inflationary pressures,” Hahn said.
