The European Health Insurance Card or EHIC is a free card that gives you access to any state provided healthcare needed during a temporary stay or holiday to 27 EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
The UK continues to accept the EHIC for emergency care and UK nationals living in Luxembourg are covered for this treatment too if they have an EHIC. You can find out more information here.
Whilst it is not a replacement for travel insurance, the EHIC will make sure you are entitled to state health care in another country covered by the agreement.
